Since October of 2002 when I first published yonderways the site has enjoyed almost 8000 page hits! The site is currently being viewed 40-50 times a day, which by internet traffic counts is quite modest, yet I find it remarkable that folks find us at all! I am able to monitor the page hits and discern interests of the visitors and have felt for some time the site needed a bit of streamlining. Also, so much has changed in our personal lives over the past few months; the kids are soon to be settled in their schools in the US and Keith and I are finally starting to feel comfortable with ourselves in a foreign country. My goal is to share our new city from working expats' perspectives rather than to share our trials and tribulations of first-time expatriation. But just in case someone out there is a glutton for punishment...by all means, help yourself to the (sometimes whiny) archives link! I chose to stop additions to the archives last month. Besides the new content focus, the web layout should be easier to navigate, load and read. Most likely, I'm not through tinkering yet....sorry - it's the designer in me (interior not web)...I'm at best a novice, self-taught web designer still very much in the learning process. Got an idea to improve the site? I welcome your comments and suggestions. Best to each of you; especially all soon to be first-time empty nesters! Choosing to send Jake to boarding school has made early empty nesters of Keith and me. We've no regrets about Jake's educational opportunities and yet we're trying to make peace with the forever lost personal moments we'll miss with our youngest. Choosing to send Jake to boarding school was but one of many, many tough decisions we have faced over the past two years as expats, but Keith and I are striving to live life with no regrets. |
