Sheetrock! We have rooms again! Ceilings and tiling start this week. Mudding starts next week, then flooring and cabinets. The ceilings will be 1×12 shiplap. I’ll be staining Keith’s office ceiling to look like old barn wood, but the rest of the ceilings will be painted.
I finally feel the renovations have turned the corner. In many ways the house feels brand new, but I am pleased we preserved the spirit of the home. One of the Henderson County inspectors is Tim Tine and he has seen our project through from the beginning. I had the opportunity to meet him last week and I commented, “The place has come a long way, right?” He replied, “This is one of my favorite projects. I really love this home and that y’all chose to preserve it instead of tearing it down. Do you realize no one in the world has a house just like yours?” That really struck home (pun intended).
