Insulation has begun. We’re opting for closed-cell spray polyurethane foam in the enclosed porch areas, and the standard batt in the rest of the house. This same company is also installing a moisture barrier under the house. All this combined with the new windows and doors, should make the Oak very energy efficient for years to come.
I’ve also begun some personal insulation. I walked away from social media, namely facebook, once again because I was wasting too much time throughout my day “popping in for just a minute” but in reality I was staying for 10-20 minutes to the total of over 3 HOURS A DAY! Online social media is the perfect venue for the social or “outgoing introvert”. An outgoing introvert is a real thing like jumbo shrimp or Microsoft works. Outgoing introverts get their “feels” from social media without having to engage with a live, energy-sucking group. Win-Win! But facebook was clearly becoming a distraction and was costing me way too much time for the payoff. I’ve taken a couple of timeouts from facebook over the years, but this time I’m leaning towards deleting my personal account. In the meantime I’m using the additional hours to dissolve my pearl business and build my web design business. I’m also more focused to write posts for this journal.
Here are a few pictures from today’s insulation progress:
