Off/On Again

Off/On Again

What a week. First buyers of our present home walked from the contract only 5 days before the original closing – damn open due diligence (because of septic issue). Almost a month has been wasted sitting in hold, but that’s no one’s fault but our own. The septic issue should have been resolved before listing. A positive, the county is scheduled to visit this Tuesday so we can resolve the issue (or not) once and for all.  We’re feeling confident everything can be resolved, but exactly what it’s going to cost us is another matter.

The house was put back on the market, but within 24 hours we were in contract – AGAIN to a backup buyer who luckily hadn’t found another home. The contract is contingent on the septic perking for 3 bedrooms. Fingers crossed. At this point I’m not considering anything a done deal until we get a check and the buyer gets the keys.

The events have been frustrating. First, remember the Auction = Win? Yeah…well a whole bunch of stuff is gone now, so trying to stage again without furniture and accessories is Auction = Lacking Decor. Not to mention the 20 boxes of personal effects already packed sitting in the garage. In a perfect world we would have been moving out this weekend in anticipation of the close on Tuesday.

Like I told a friend, “The week has been extremely aggravating with the packing, losing the contract, and then stopping to clean and stage again, but no one’s locked up, and no one’s psychotic (believe me, we’ve lived through much darker times). In the scheme of things, it’s been a very positive week, especially with being seamlessly back in contract.” Let me stress again how important and worth every cent of commission working with a professional Realtor is in situations as this. Our Realtor worked late into the evening to negotiate the second contract.

So, fingers crossed the septic is resolved on Tuesday. This coming Thursday, Oct 1, we’re scheduled to close on Yonderways! Once we have keys we will finally reveal before pictures of our project. Until closing….

This is “Jack” – Keith pulled him out of the attic this week along with a wooden rocking horse, a large dollhouse, old tricycles and rocking chairs. I love attic treasures!
