Pearls, Pins and Priss

Pearls, Pins and Priss

I’m going to keep this short. Keith and I are headed out to our most favorite breakfast spot in all of Hendersonville – Seasons Restaurant at Highland Lake Inn. We highly recommend the delicious early morning buffet. We’re going there for two reasons; we have a gift certificate from our children, AND we’re childless this weekend!! WOOHOOOOO.

Since I last posted, we have gained temporary legal custody (different from DSS emergency custody) of our 3.5 yo granddaughter. It’s been a long, sorted mess just learning the legalities. Because we’ve exhausted our finances on the property, I was determined to navigate the legal process sans lawyer, and I did it! It wasn’t easy – the learning curve was HUGE, but through Internet sources and loads of researching I found the proper papers to file and followed procedures to the letter to avoid $4k in lawyer’s fees. It helped that the biological parents were on board. We were able to speed through mediation and expedite court orders.

At any rate, we’re parenting a toddler once again and while she is a delight we are POOPED. Our daughter and son in law are hosting Priss this weekend to give us a much needed break. I will talk more about this life adjustment another time and how I am starting a new local “Grandparents Raising Grandchildren” support group.

But for now I’m really writing to mention the pearl safety pins I am offering. (The link has been removed, I am no longer making the pins. I sent out just over 1000 pins)

Best to all! donna

  1. Think of you and Keith so often Donna. Know how hard it must be but so happy for her that she has both of you playing such an ENORMOUS ROLE in her life.

    1. Awww – thanks Kaye. There’s a village raising Priss and then there are all the many supportive friends <3 (thank you). Today is great - tomorrow is a new day, with all new challenges and choices. We're just so very thankful we get to make those choices living here at Yonderways; the land is our sanctuary and such a blessing.
