Any Reddit fans? I’m very new to Reddit myself, but it’s fast becoming my most favorite social media. It took me awhile to grasp the feed concept, especially on the popular Reddit posts, but I’m slowly getting comfortable with the format. At any rate, one of my favorite feeds is Six Word Stories. Readers submit six word stories inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s touching six word story: “For Sale: Baby shoes, never worn.” Hemingway considered the story one of his most profound works.
Constructing six word stories has become a fun mind game for me; they serve to put matters into perspective and to help me to stay focused in the moment in my quest to live intentionally. This is a story I wrote this morning…
Realtors: Negotiating property, price, and pride.
Our Realtor, who is handling both the purchase of our new property and the sale of our present home, has had quite a week of my six word story. I admire our Realtor immensely. She called this morning on her first day of vacation to square away some points of negotiation. Details of the what, when, how and who is silly and in the end the property, price, and pride will all be settled. Which brings me to another six letter story:
Keys in hand, job well done.
Until we have keys, or give away our present keys, our Realtor will be ever so diligent to assuage all matters, especially pride. “Precarious” is a good word to describe this past week, but all is good.
It’s Labor Day Weekend which means Apple Festival here in Hendersonville. I, and many other locals, have a love/hate relationship with this 4-day celebration. No doubt about it, the festival is a tremendous financial boon to our little town. Keith is at the opening Clemson Tigers’ football game with our oldest. He is a Clemson alum and has had the same stadium seats for 35 years. For many years I obligingly trudged along to share in Keith’s hobby, but around 50yo I gave myself permission to be guilt-free for no longer participating – which is another reason I have loved my 50’s. Enjoy your weekend!

For fun, comment in six words.
